Latin Name: Lavendula angustifolia; Lavendula officinalis; Lavendula vera
Common Lavender shouldn’t be confused with lavendin or spike lavender, both of which have different effects on the body and mind. The south of France is still the main producer of lavender, and for many years lavender was gathered from the hillsides who sold it to the perfumers of Grasse.Â
“Lavender” comes from the latin word lavare , meaning ‘to wash’, or livere meaning ‘to be bluish in color’. It is harvested from flowers.
The scent of lavender is floral and sweet and also has herbal notes with balsamic undertones.
The scent alleviates anxiety, stress and tension. Use for calming, soothing and relaxation.
Can also assist in the treatment of insomnia due to its calming effects.
It is part of the Herbaceous-floral perfume group, and is considered to be a Middle to top fragrance note.Â
